Description

The scout had said a healer was needed inside the city -- and Theron had been the closest one on hand. Her heart raced in her chest as she ran through the rain towards the city of Massilia, and she focused all her thoughts on the drumming of her feet and wetness of the grass around her. It helped to keep her distracted from the screams and yowls; and the fact that she was running straight towards them. She couldn't help but glance behind her as Iuliana yelled directions at her over the roaring thunder. The small serval had never been this close to the city before in her entire life. This close to the hunters. This close to her father.

This close to death.

She saw Taariq in her mind's eye, and Cynthia, and Scion, and Sugarra, and Bellona, and everyone else who she had ever come into contact with and cared about. Anyone who may not come back from tonight. She hoped that they would stay safe; that they wouldn't take stupid risks. She still had to go hunting with Cyn and Xalo; show Fausta the best places near the borders to collect herbs; practice her fighting skills with her mother; and talk to Taariq about where they were and how they felt. So many things that could be ripped away from her tonight. So many things that could go wrong. But ... she couldn't afford to think about that. She couldn't even let herself think about Taariq. About any of them. Not even about Reel.

And so Theron took a deep breath, burying the panic bubbling up from the pit of her stomach and locking her emotions deep within herself. She steeled her courage and turned her eyes back to the black city that grew larger and larger the closer they got. And she left all thoughts of her friends and family behind her in the rain.

Part number two ! I might do another part before the ... well, bigger one I've already completed just for a smoother story-telling, but I'm still thinking about it. Plus the extra one would leave a big cliff hanger hAA
