Name
???
Responds to pretty much anything -- most people seem to simply call her 'Ghost'
● meaning: n/a
● previous names: unknown
● nicknames: n/a

Rank
Solus
● Ghost is a Solus cat, and as such, has no rank. She seems to have some knowledge in herbs, however, and serves mainly as her family's healer. And weird ghost dog.

Species
Serval
● a species not usually found in these parts, Ghost stands out both for being a serval and for her striking pelt. Let's just say even with her head-scarf she's kind of hard to miss.

Age
???
assumed to be around three years of age
Starting Age: 4 months old {born in early autumn}

Traits
Dominate Traits: serval build: long legs [AA], slender body [AA], large ears [Aa], spotted pelt [AA]
Recessive Traits: albinism: white fur, red eyes [aa], striped nose [aa], striped tail [aa]
Carrier Traits: dark paws [Aa], black ears [Aa], splotched paw pads [aa], gold ticking [aa]

Physical Description
Tall and slender, Ghost is certainly something unique all of herself. Pure white fear, delicate features, and a kind face set with gentle rose eyes; see her once, and you'll never forget her. Besides her fur color, she's a typical serval, with large ears and long legs. Her pelt, however, is as white as snow -- a stark contrast to the usual golden-hued colors of her breed. Instead of black splotches down her sides and legs, she is very sparsely marked with faint grey speckles on her shoulers and flanks, along with three silvery stripes down her feather-like tail, and a distinct duo v-shape on her chest. Grey eye-liner stripes are the only other markings she posesses, besides the darkened ears and white ear-spots she carries (a trademark of pretty much all servals). Small, dainty paws add to her fragile appearance, not to mention her smaller size; she stands about 10cm shorter than the average serval. The one thing that pops more than her pink gaze or ghost-like appearance are the scars that marr her face: jagged lines of healed-over skin across her muzzle, forehead and neck that speak of an attack she very nearly didn't survive. Somehow, these scars don't take away from her appearance but add ... something, to it. It's just hard to tell what, exactly.

Location
Ghost is usually found in the abandoned castle near the seaside with the rest of her family; if not there, then wandering the woods with Cosette or her daughter.

PERSONALITY

{ allocentric } - { poised } - { volatile } - { vigilant } - { gentle } - { charismatic } { enigmatic }

allocentric
Ghost focuses her attention on others more so than herself -- life is just easier that way. She's always in the company of someone, even if she doesn't talk a lot. Making sure that the others in her presence are okay is pretty much her lifeblood. Have they had enough to eat? Did they sleep well? Are they sick? Injured? Is anything wrong with them whatsoever? It sometimes escalates to the point where she's so focused on the others around her that she forgets to take care of herself. She is an extremely caring person, especially towards her family; they did save her life, after all. At this point, she cares very little about finding out about her past or anything about who she was before: as long as her family is okay, then she's happy. Along with anyone else she may come across who needs her help.

poised
Despite the scars marring her face, Ghost can be described as the embodiment of grace. She stands tall, chooses her words carefully, and to all that look at her she seems entirely self-assured. Elegance just sort of ... happens with her. She's just a graceful creature. It may be due to her peaceful nature, or her soft eyes, or any number of things, really. She likes to keep up this appearance (often without trying), as she knows that appearances can be everything. Especially in a world as full of dangers as this one is.

volatile
Quick to anger, quick to calm, Ghost can switch moods at the drop of a coin. Her short fuse and fiery temper is often blamed on Scaeden, as seeing her angry is kind of an 'otherworldly' experience. She is unafraid to let her anger show when it's kindled, and it can be a surprise to those her are unaccustomed to her ways; most are used to her as a kind and gentle creature, and can never imagine her with glaring eyes and twisted fangs. This reaction is usually triggered when those of her family are endangered or threatened, and even if she's not suited for fighting, she's not afraid to show her claws in such situations.

vigilant
Ever since her fateful encounter with Cola and Thanatos, she isn't one to let her watchful gaze fall for ever a moment. She loves her family with everything she has, and is loyal to them more so that she is to herself. According to them, she has already sacrificed her life to protect Cola, and none of them doubt that she would do it again. She may not be able to protect them in the same way that Thanatos or Caelina might, but she'll do it in her own way. Watching over them is just one of the ways she shows her devotion to those she cares for.

gentle
She's a kind soul, and would prefer not to harm anyone or anything. She's a healer; even with no memories of her life before, she knows that healing is something she was born to do. If she could help it, she would happily spend the rest of her days simply being with her family and caring for others. She has a soothing way about her, with her soft eyes and calming smile -- everything about her is just pure. And she would very much so like to keep it that way, but of course we can't always get what we want. She's a fighter, and will bare her teeth and claws when it is called for, but at the end of the day she'd rather be the one patching up the wounds than making them.

charismatic
It might be hard to imagine a gentle creature such as Ghost having a tongue as sharp as her claws, but a quick wit is just something that comes along with being surround by a snarky hallucination nearly 24/7. She knows her people, and can read others better than she can read herself (which isn't too surprising, seeing as she can remember next to nothing of her past). She knows when to keep quiet, when to speak up, and when words just won't do the trick; even if she prefers to avoid conflict. Usually she'll keep all retorts to herself, but when she does speak it's instantly apparent to all that this cat has a way with words. Whether it's used to calm another's frayed nerves or to injure with just her tongue, she knows exactly what words to use to get what she wants.

enigmatic
Ghost is a strange one to figure out, when all is said and done. No one really knows what to make of her. At first she may seem like a typical calm and caring healer, only to suddenly turn on you with a sharp retort to something sarcastic you said. For a week she won't speak a word to anyone, and then one day she'll start laughing and joking like she had been doing it all this time. No one is really sure what goes on in her head -- or exactly what it's like not to know who you are. They just let her be, however, as all in the family are used to her strange habits. Strangers, on the other hand, are going to need some time to wrap their heads around the enigma that is Ghost.

HISTORY
    [ oblivion ]

I ... don't remember much from that night. I remember ... it was raining. The sky was dark with clouds, and thunder rumbled above me. My fur was soaked, with water and with blood. My head screamed with pain. And ... I was on the ground. Lying in a pool of blood. It was mostly mine, from what I could tell. There was another cat there who was crying. A cub. She was huddled by me and crying over the bodies of two other cubs. I think ... yes, my pendent was near me on the ground too; pieces of broken chain lying in the puddles between the cobblestones.

That's the first memory I have. I don't remember anything else before that.

She came to stand over me once she noticed I was awake. She helped me roll onto my stomach, despite my protesting head. I couldn't speak. I could barely see. I don't even remember quite what was going through my head, if anything. Everything from then is muffled. All I really remember are the cubs' bodies. The blood on my paws. And the overwhelming desire to make sure the cub crying at my side never came to harm.

... I don't know when Thanatos showed up. One minute the sky was dark, then it was brightening, the rain lessening, and a black tiger was on the path in front of me. I felt ... nothing, really. At first there was a spark of fear, of anger, but then the cub spoke his name and I knew he wouldn't hurt us. All I knew was that I was injured, I was tired, and I didn't know who I was or what was happening and --

He said he would take care of us. He said he would keep us safe. Her safe.

And so we went with him.

    [ awakening ]

They called me Ghost. And they let me be. No one really knew what to make of me, and that was okay, for I didn't know what to make of myself either. I didn't speak to anyone in the beginning. Only Cola stayed by my side, along with a cat who called herself Cosette. Their smiles when I said my first words after that night would've rivaled the brightness of the sun.

There were others as well: Caelina, Thanatos, Sylvanas, Helios, Corvinus ... all of us, on a boat I didn't know the name of to a land that's title tasted foreign on my tongue. The one comfort I had was Cola, and then ...

... And then there was Scaeden. But only I could see his form and hear his voice. The others found comfort in his presence, and I found a friend. Even if it only solidified the belief that I was dead as well. He mostly watched over them, as did I. I found solace in his presence, if nothing else.

The trip to the new land was hard at first. But we grew to care for each other in our own ways; they even came to care for me, the strange ghost who could seemingly talk to the dead. They taught me things about the world, things I missed, what they were running from and where they were running to. Thanatos told me about his dead friend, and took comfort when I shared Scaeden's words with him; the apprentices, Cosette, Corvin, and Helios, told me about their families and the city, and taught me the names of the stars; Caelina treated me as any one of her apprentices, showing me how to fight even if I got cuffed over the head more than anything; Sylvanas mostly kept to herself, and her temper meant I was mostly healing others, especially when she came to blows with Thanatos; and Cola took care of me just as I took care of her, just as we all began to take care of each other. I don't know when it happened, but ... we became a family.

Even if I didn't know myself, I knew them. And they helped me find my new self.

    [ haunted ]

Thanatos said that the name of the city was Rome. Scaeden said that there were Hunters here too. We avoided them and kept to ourselves, staying well away from both humans and cats. Instead, we journeyed to a ruin by the seaside, a castle from ages past that had stone walls to keep us safe. And so we made our home there, overlooking both the forest and the sea.

We've heard whispers of an uprising here -- Scaeden told me the cats in the forest seemed to be at war with those behind the city walls. It was then that we learned about the Ferox, and the Hunters, and the Solus and the Olum and the humans --

So many names. So many cats, so many words, so many voices. This land is strange, but Scaeden says it isn't so different. There are cats here, a city, a forest full of vermin just like where he was from. Where I was from. The trees are tall, the night sky is full of stars, and the rivers flow to the sea just as they did back home. Even though that home was now a burnt city full of blood and where everyone said I died. This place is our home now, with it's crumbling walls and it's warring factions and it's blood-soaked grounds.

But we'll be okay. We'll settle here, and we'll heal. And we'll do as we've always done: We'll survive.

Q U I R K S  &&  F E A R S

● "The White Rose of the East" is a silly title that some humans in the city seem to have taken to calling her after seeing her over the walls of the city

● ghost-themed nicknames seem to be a running gag with her -- especially when it comes to Cosette

● she talks so little that her traveling companions say that she may in fact be mute, but no one is really sure; she seems to like chirping though

● all she knows about the world is what she's heard from those she's taken to following; needless to say her views are somewhat skewed

● is almost completely neutral to the Ferox vs Hunter thing going on in Rome. Her and her family just want to be left alone. Although messing with the Ferox is extremely amusing

● can 'see' the ghost of Scaeden -- this hallucination is a byproduct of her head trauma. He's sort of like an imaginary friend, and the rest of the family takes comfort in knowing he's still looking out for them
→ head trauma effects memories most close to the event that caused the trauma, and so Ghost's memory of Scaeden is warped from when she met him as a cub (unknown to her). His personality and actions are
dictated by what she has learned of him from her family, and all things he tells her are from her own subconscious. Mostly she just imagines him taking care of his mate and cub, and she talks to him sometimes
as well. Imagining him is kind of like her coping mechanism.

● is very blunt and doesn't believe in lying -- she's always truthful to others because she wants them to be truthful with her. Lying is something she frowns upon greatly because with her forgotten memory, she finds herself at the mercy of others morals; she can't really tell when another is giving her false information.. So, to make up for it, she is always honest with others, although it can come off somewhat harsh with her cryptic ways.

● while patient, she has little to no tolerance

    Murder Family

    ● Everything Ghost knows about the world, she knows from her family. From hunting to fighting to tracking, and everything in between, she has been taught by them. She still has plenty to learn about the world from them, but they take care of their own, even if one of them is a weird ghost dog that no one really knows anything about. They love her anyways, though. Plus, she's a healing weird ghost dog. Those are the kinds you really wanna keep around and teach a thing or two about how to catch a rabbit. Ghost learns as much from them as they do from her, surprisingly; it's always a wonder what she'll suddenly remember about cold-weather survival or something Scaeden will mention that the others had long forgotten about. They all look after each other in their odd little family.

    apprentice
    Cola

    ● Ghost and Cola share a bond that few do -- one of pain, love, and understanding. Ghost adopted the small cougar and has hardly ever left her side since, showing her what few things she could remember from a life that was no longer hers. Small things, like how to soothe aching paws, or what to eat when your energy was at its lowest; small things that went a long way for cats who weren't familiar with the outdoors. Ghost continues to teach her daughter as her memory slowly returns to her, but she's as much a mentor to Cola as the rest of the family is. What one cat lacks, another can step in to take over the lesson -- so Cola and the other younger cats get all the training they'll need to be able to survive.

STRENGTHS //

healing skills
Ghost finds that she knows quite a bit about healing herbs -- although the knowledge was slow to come back to her. She's not sure where she ever learned this, but she is very adept at it; enough so that even Caelina agrees it's good to have her around. She's an extremely skilled healer, and uses her skills to keep her family healthy and happy. Along with anyone else who comes along needing her help.

people person
She doesn't feel unsure in a crowd, or uncomfortable with strangers; if she wasn't so ... odd ... you might even call her the friendly sort. Ghost knows how to deal with people no matter the situation, and she is always in the habit of putting this skill to good use. It never hurts to have friends in the right places; not that she isn't sincere. Ghost would never think to use something -- at least not like that.

instincts
Since she doesn't know even a fraction of the things most cats do, Ghost relies on her instincts. And more often than not, her insticts are right. Her ability to read people and situations give her the insight she needs to make decisions. She's a quick thinker and an intelligent cat, but sometimes a gut feeling is all you really need.

NYOOM
This cat is FAST. That, and she has the endurance to keep up her speed. While her limbs may not be meant for fighting, they were definitely made for running. She's an expert at quick escapes and outrunning danger; that, and being fast certainly helps when hunting prey.

WEAKNESSES //

world knowledge
As stated before, Ghost ... doesn't know too much. She may be quick to catch on, but knowledge is different than intelligence. Her view of the world is very narrow, and so her curiosity often gets the better of her in tense situations. That being said, she may be able to list off all the herbs in a region, but as her what the current events of the world are will result in a blank stare.

literally any type of fighting
Have you seen her legs? She may have claws and teeth like any other cat, and basic fighting skills, but she's far from strong. Made out of glass, more like. She can fight, when she has to -- the scars on her face and neck speak of that much. But she's a healer, not a fighter, and deep down inside she knows that.

ARMOR

    green scarf

    ● ... no, it's not really armor. Like, at all. It was one of the few pieces of her old armor that wasn't covered in blood, so she ditched the rest of it and used the salvageable part as a headwrap. It helps keep her eyes shielded from the sun on bright days, and, well, just makes her feel a bit better to have it wrapped around her head. The others have promised to get her a new one if they ever come across some cloth, but Ghost prefers her ripped dirty scarf; it has sentimental value, even if she can't remember much about it.

ITEMS

    cracket Assassin's Pendant
    Pendant by rattarie

    ● Ghost ... isn't entirely sure where this came from. Or who it belonged to. Or even really what it means. It was beside her when Cola managed to wake her up in Massilia, and so Ghost grabbed it because why not. The chain had been completely mangled, and the gem in the center cracked, but it's still a pretty piece of jewelry. She suspects that Thanatos and Caelina know about it's origins, but they seem uncomfortable when she brings it up, so she just lets it slide. Cola says it belonged to the monster who 'killed' her. Ghost isn't really sure what that means.

R O L E P L A Y  S A M P L E

Sample

Ghost peered through the bushes at the stranger, her rose-hued eyes wide as she watched him progress further into her territory. She had seen him come here often, and had warned Thanatos about him; the tiger seemed unfazed, however, stating that it was probably just an apprentice and not worth the trouble. But Ghost wasn't one to just let something like this slide. Especially when it involved her family. So here she was once again, following him through the undergrowth. All this time and not once had he spotted her during his searches.

Because he was looking for something. That much was apparent, from the way his eyes slid across the bushes and trees, nose twitching and whiskers trembling as he stalked carefully through the unfamiliar forest. The reason, she did not know. And it was because she did not know that she kept her eyes on him.

He never did get very close to the castle, though. She would have thought that would be the first place they would look, if they were indeed searching for her family. This one seemed pretty intent on searching the forest for some reason, though. And today she was determined to find out why.

And that meant throwing caution to the wind, at least for a moment. At least it would be something to tell the others when she returned home.

She stepped into a small clearing in the undergrowth, the light through the leaves dappling her white pelt, eyes peering curiously at the small stranger a few feet in front of her. He stopped dead in his tracks, hazel eyes wide with surprise at her sudden appearance. And then:

    "It's you."

Ghost's ears twitched, and she took a step back, eyes narrowing slightly at his words.

"They said you weren't real, but I knew you were!"

But Ghost was already gone, her form disappearing into the undergrowth just like her namesake, silently running back towards the safety of her home. Falling far behind her, she could hear his muffled shouts as he tried (and subsequently failed) to stumble after her:

"I'll find you, White Rose of the East! I told them I would find you, and I will!"
